From one-person activity, evolved into communal activity, creating artistic compositions, through the sensations of light, sound, and space. Done spontaneously, with different intensions and meaning, which in the end gave many surprising offspring. There’s freedom, there are choices, and there are also dialogues. Then from the attitude and daily life comes the need to ‘expand’. There is an addition to the numbers of the participants, the interest shift from mere digital and computer technology then grew. The space is varied. The sensation blooms: Every corner of the space the stage, and everyone there is the performer. The year 2000 was the early stage of collaborative meeting of a group of people with same concerns and interests. An intense gathering in a house in a dense suburban area in Bandung, has resulted in a so-called ‘collective attitude’, which they regard as an act of ‘self-entertainment through a creative process’. Each of them uses computer technology, creating piles of works in each person’s hard disk in some digitalized format of sounds, music, images, animations, films, etc. From personal activity, it then has expanded into a collective act to form artistic composition through the creating of sensation of sounds, light, and space, done spontaneously, sometimes with each individual’s respective goal or objective. Some surprising results often happen from their freedom to act and create, as well as dialogues. What they did has been growing from a daily attitude to an art performance. |
